LFW SS14 Street Style

Where do I even start? I finished work at 3 and rushed to Somerset house… got caught in the rain and my feet still hurt but it’s all in the name of fashion. The aim of the game was to look effortless chic with and to find some fashionistas….. Tomorrow I am off to a show in the evening and I hope the weather clears up! I love love love London Fashion Week because the most stylish, weird, outgoing and cookey people are all in one place. There are no rule, wear what you want… be bold, smile, absorb the atmosphere and people watch! 

 

I am wearing my new Aqua printed trousers, they are so fierce and as you already know I have a thing for print! I love clashing prints, mixing it up, wearing double prints and I don’t think this style will ever get old!

 

Due to the terrible weather I had to put my hair up, I wrapped part of the pony tail around the hairband to complete the look. My jacket is from Zara, my jumper from Forever 21 and my shoes from Topshop! I pinched my clutch from my sister in law (thank you Za Za) and surprisingly it’s from Next!

 

 

 

 

 

My lovely friend Chi came along with me, she looked super glam with her printed trousers…. uber cool shoes and amazing statement jacket! Chi has a blog too…. check out her blog here! 

 

 

I love the statement red jacket, wearing a solid colour and adding a pop of colour always make a statement outfit! 

 

 

Mixing casual urban style with a cute shirt creates a relaxed look also check out how amazing his trainers are! I have a thing for  clean trainers, they look so fresh and the contrasting colour with the high-top shapes inspires me to buy a new pair of kicks! 

 

 

I love her hair…. she looks so grunge yet pretty! A look which is very hard to pull off and her studded bag adds a dash of kick ass style to her outfit! 

 

 

One of my favourite stylish people… Deigh Dwight Alexander Smith… he always looks so good so keep your eyes peeled he will be there over fashion week.

Peace through the world

I am on a journey and I am trying to  ‘find’ myself… whoever is reading this I am being totally honest and laying all my feeling on the line (or on the blog)! Trying to figure out your purpose or passion is one of the most exciting and scariest things in life… why am I here?

What message do I want to spread and what do I want to do with my life??? I know the basics….. I love fashion.. styling… talking and designing… love to paint and photography and I love to travel…. I want to live my life for me, do something I love everyday and enjoy my life! Life is too short to waste time doing something that doesn’t make you happy and surrounding yourself with negative people!

There are a lot of people in my life that are currently in a ‘transition’… this is a period in your life where you are working towards your goals and dream but are still trying to find the right path to get there! The boy is working towards his dream and I want to travel around the world and start working towards my dreams!

This week has been amazing, I have spent time with my family… had an amazing time with Annie and spent time with the boy in the upper east side 🙂 I have been taking so many pictures of the street art in NYC… possibly my new favourite city and who knows I might live here in the next few years?

The boy took me to Williamsburg (my new favourite place) …. it’s on the edge of Brooklyn and reminds me of a mix of Brick Lane’s Fashion/street art meets Canary Wharf with the most spectacular view! It’s one of my favourite places to go, the little restaurants are full of character and there are so many vintage and quirky record stores. Coming from London I know the highstreet pretty well so I want to see NYC culture, do as the real New Yorkers do and see and embrace the different vibes! The boy and I got the biggest slice of pizza in Williamsburg NOM NOM NOM!!

The other day Annie and I couldn’t resist having some pancakes as a treat, this is a cute little place called Cafeteria which is in Chelsea, it’s super yummy however we couldn’t finish it!

The whole gang went bowling….. I have to say I was pretty impressed because I beat everyone (the boys esp Steve didn’t appreciate this)! Before we went bowling we went to the golf range on Chelsea Piers…. check out my Instagram to have a quick peek! 

We went out for dinner and we had 15 minutes to get ready so I rocked the hair up and decided to go for the simple yet elegant monochrome look!!

We has frozen yogurt at 16 flavours…. OH MY GAWD…. I had a party in my mouth…. I had birthday cake/cinnabon/mango/chocolate flavour…. with lots of gummy bears…I think when I get back to London I will be hitting the gym pretty hard! 

My preetttyyyyyyyy new Stussy T-shirt… pretty and so cheap at $28! Woop Woop…. love investing in these pretty new things! I am in such a great place in my mind at the moment, I am happy, excited about the future… in love with someone amazing and have a great family! Thank you God….. I hope you find peace in your life through the world and religion!

Go Find Yourself…

I am 24 and I have done everything I was ‘suppose’ to do … I went to school… went to University… got a degree… and now I am working full time in the field I graduated in…. now I am questioning EVERYTHING …. is this it? Is this my path? Is there more to life….. I am currently sitting on my floor in my room after attempting some yoga and feel the need to write down my thoughts and just let my brain be free! My brain is on the go 24/7….I am bored of this standard structure, I want to be creative, I want to paint again… I want to do all the things I love everyday for a few months and enjoy myself!

I am so curious about the world, I have this urge to travel and see the world, I want to experience so many different cultures, take pictures on top of mountains….. go bungee jumping in Australia… go to music festivals around the world and street style when I can …. Go to Brazil… See elephants in Africa….. learn how to cook traditional food by an old Italian lady in her house in a little village…. I want to absorb all these experiences… I have travelled a lot in my life with my family but I feel it’s time to let go of structure and find me!

When people previously said they were going travelling to ‘find themselves’ I never really got it, I thought to myself.. I already know who I am why would I want to travel….. I felt safe in my bubble…. that bubble popped and now I want to float around the world and find out where it could take me! Be curious…educate yourself in the ways of the world! Learn another language, relocate…. you may love your life at the moment and enjoy the life you have but there is always more! We will never know everything so we might as well explore and travel…

I want to be free like a bird, travel the world and not be bound by societies structure of this and that! I personally want to make a big difference in my life and absorb as much information about this world as possible! We have to think big to get big in this world… I am currently blabbering all my thoughts out to the world and hopefully it will have a domino affect and get you thinking about your life and what you want to do!

We can achieve greats things and see the world if we change our state of mind…. we are always afraid of taking chances and trying something new because of the uncertaininty of what will happen… as a typical planner I love structure… I love a plan and knowing that I will be doing A,B, and C today however this is not how life works!

I met someone (you know who you are)…. they broke down my walls and have showed me a new way of thinking…. I am going with the flow and instead of giving everything a time structure I am giving myself goals of things I want to do in life! No matter what your age we should all be able to fulfil our dreams and the only thing stopping you… is yourself so make those baby steps towards your dreams…

I have written a list of things I want to do and I keep adding and adding and it’s just getting longer and longer! Some of them are pretty cheesy but who cares.. it’s my fairy tale so I will be writing it however I want! I love animals and seeing animals in London Zoo is very sweet but I want to see them on Safari…. a special someone took me to the zoo and they passed the test… now it’s my turn to take that one step further and go on SAFARI! I want to see elephants… I am imaging a mix of the jungle book and madagascar however I will most probably be terrified of getting attacked or my camera stolen by monkeys (I’m sure that only happens in the films right?) I want to see  lions and zebras and all the other animals and get some real first hand inspiration for my art!

I want to do yoga on the beach for a whole month every morning, hear the ocean and feel the sand! I have lived in London my whole life, a concrete jungle and I work in the fashion industry… I want to see first handedly what the other cultures wear… their national dress…. the list is really really long but hopefully I can start exploring this part of my life very soon inshallah and letting go of some structure!

You never know what will happen until you try… let go off all that fear… jump into the deep end and enjoy every experience! Dream….. believe….. achieve! Maybe I will become an explorer?? Who knows…. hehe .. let’s just enjoy life!

It’s 28’c …. in London…

The sun has been shining all week and I have managed to get a tan…a very small tan to say the least…. however this NEVER happens in London so hopefully by writing this super happy post it won’t jinx it and start raining again!

The past weekend I managed to have a picnic, go boating in hyde park, attempt to  skate board, record my first vlog and buy a wedding outfit for my brothers asian wedding! A fun packed weekend with the sun shining has made me reconsider living in London. I want the sun to shine everyday, I want to feel the heat and have you noticed how  everyone is so much happier! I think maybe Dubai? NYC… I need a beach so maybe LA… maybe somewhere in Europe… I am not actually sure yet but I know that I am young… it’s my life.. my story and it’s time to explore!

Sometimes I feel we are so bound by societies structure to do this and that…. it’s your life… explore… travel… educated yourself by the cultures of the world! Embraces each others differences and learn! We should be learning something new everyday, stop sticking to what you know and find out something knew! This whole planet is for us to explore but we are so comfortable in our cocoon …..

The new vlog will be out at the end of the week and you can see how LJ (Lauren… one of my best friends) spend our time together!

A Tourist in my Own Town

Dedicated to My Isha ….

This weekend I have managed to see London in a completely different light, I walked all over the city, through parks and popped to the zoo! Next time you have a day off, go and take a walk around London but go through the back streets! Take your camera and look up, as a Londoner I am always in a rush…. when you actually look at the architecture  around you everything seems different or new! Open your eyes and see things from a new angle! Check out my colourful weekend at the Zoo…. I honestly felt like a child…. when was the last time you went to the zoo?

Recently I have seen a new side of life… yes I still love fashion, style, beauty products and that glitters but I feel like I have found a new respect for the natural world! Going to zoo, walking everywhere in London and seeing things from a different perspective have recently blown my mind away! I have found my ‘happy place’ within my own mind and I am enjoying life every step of the way…. even when I fall!

I am really starting to appreciate life….. I hope you are too! You are amazing and don’t forget to surround yourself with positive people!

LFW Street Style… Day 2

 

 

London Fashion Week is one of the best events of the year, firstly it lasts for a week… secondly it forecasts the trends for the next season and my favourite reason of all is that the creative minds of the fashion industry are congregated together in the middle of London. Bloggers, designers, models, fashionistas, stylists, photographers and the rest….  if you have any interest in fashion, hang around Somerset House for a few hours and your perception of what ‘fashion’ is should change.

They say a picture can say a thousand words, I could try and explain the buzz and atmosphere but you should try and experience this in person. Rules are thrown out the window, there are no boundaries (well don’t turn up in your birthday suit), clashing prints, coloured hair, neon clutches, capes, drag queens, glitter eyebrows….. It’s exciting to see what people are coming up with, the most influential people in fashion are standing around queuing for shows.

I salute all of the individuals who have their own unique style, don’t be a sheep and follow everyone else …..try something new…. you never know it could actually suit you! This ss13 we will be seeing lots of vibrant neons, double prints and lots of monochrome. An oriental twist of fabrics and cuts will influence this up and coming season so explore and invest in something new.

I hope this street style inspires you to try something new!

Rihanna For River Island… LFW 2013

So ‘bad girl’ RIRI has finally crossed over to the dark side, welcome to the fashion world. Launching her first collection with River Island ….what were you expecting? I though this could initially go two ways be complete and utter tack or be the best thing since sliced bread.

I had a look at the collection this morning on the internet and was surprised by the reaction, the pieces are bright, cropped, edgy and daring. You have to have a Rihanna figure and attitude to pull these pieces off, the swim suits are WOW with a ‘baywatch’ high cut leg and I think I need to start investing in a decent fitness work out if I attempt to rock this on a night out! The shoes are amazing, this is something I will defiantly be buying, they are statement heels, big and in your face.

What do you think of the collection? Do you already love Rihanna’s style? I like the bright yellow and orange pieces and will be investing in them, I would love to rock the cropped tops but preferably with highwaisted skirts and trousers…. I’m not into showing my 6 pack (I wish)!

The shoes remind me of the Burberry collection last year, military chick but pretty ‘bad ass.’

What do you think? I would wear some pieces but wouldn’t style it differently, I love vibrant colours and head turning pieces but don’t like showing my stomach! What will you be buying?

LFW 2013 .. Street Style

What a day….my feet hurt and I didn’t even wear heels! I am blinded by the amount of neon outbursts that I saw at Somerset House, clashing prints, red creepers, bleached dip dye hair and bright bold colours. Today was an amazing day, I get a buzz every season seeing the fashion trend setters of the world situated on a cobbled pathway, drinking and posing as they rush to their shows.

This is fashion, not just what we see on the catwalks but what people are really wearing, how they style their interpretations of the trends. Seeing the ‘fashion’ community or fashion ‘elite’ congregate, you get the ‘posers’, the ‘wanabees’, the ‘don’t talk to me … I am fashion’ types, the models, the photographers, the celebrities and a bunch of happy bloggers. I fall into the ‘bloggers’ category, I crave out going street stylers with a sense of humour and I got my weekly fashion dose today, if you are new to the fashion world you are in for a treat.

Fashion has no limits during LFW, if you have time to pop down over the next few days …. just GO and bring a camera!

I love this double printed monochrome jacket and trousers with this oversized bag! The turquoise t-shirt is a flash of colour to brighten up and break up the full print! 

Denim Queen, this young lady has taken double denim to new heights! Wearing a dress as a skirt and wrapping denim as a head piece she stands out from the crowd! I think she looks great and love her bright red bag. Animal print is back… well did it ever go away? This Zebra print jacket from Zara worn with more double denim and Chanel shoes! You would defiantly catch me wearing this in the future!

Funnily enough I have this leopard print denim shirt, its from Primarni or Primark to the rest of the nation! This crazy coloured rainbow lady turned heads, I think her hair and makeup is sensational! 

Neon and leather…. the only man that can style out white shoes!

This lady is so elegant and timeless with her whole look. Her hair, jacket, red lips and clutch just scream sophistication and fashionista! 

The embellished jacket, coral lipstick and blonde hair! I love this look, minus the leggings! 

After today I think I will invest in a pair of leather gloves and wear them with cute dresses to give them a retro look…..
