Winter Wish List

As I am getting older my taste in fashion has become slightly more refined. I still love my impulse buys with the fast fashion trends but over the Autumn Winter Season I prefer to invest in quality fashion that is timeless with structured cuts but also looks super FAB!

I stumbled into Reiss the other days and in my head I already spent my next pay cheque. I need that orange winter coat… ooooh maybe two…. one casual and one more formal…. I need a few shirts to wear with my leather skirt and tights and also need a few new accessories… the list goes on! I have bought a few things over the years from Reiss and the quality is still pretty much brand new and every time I pull one of my last season dresses out people always ask me where it’s from. I love to mix old season and new season, keep it fresh yet bring in my own style! Check out some of the key pieces I want to invest in this season…. let me know which ones you will be buying and help me choose mine! I would recommend buying a statement colour coat, colourful knits to layer with, invest in a evening dress for the up and coming parties….. So many options… so little time!

This Seasons Coat

It’s coming up to winter… the skies will be grey (the reality of living in London)…. but brighten up your day to day with this statement coat! I love colour especially in winter… I prefer winter clothes over summer as you can spot the true fashionistas a mile away.

This coat is a straight cut statement piece and an investment piece for season after season for £295.

The Day to Night Dress

This season we all need that dress that we can wear at work or during the day and add a few accessories and be ready for the evening. This easy neo black lace dress with it’s navy panels and body con fit will look casual during the day with a pair of tights, add an oversized jumper or a casual jacket with cute ankle boots. For the evening wear sheer tights or no tights, add heels, red lips and a leather jacket and a statement necklace and your ready for the night! You can’t beat a day to night dress this season… you never know who might ask you out for dinner! Hehe…

A Dash of Sparkle 

Sparkle…. there can never be enough, this piece I am totally in love with! I would buy this jumper one or two sizes bigger to get that oversized look and wear it with either skinny jeans or thick black tights and cute ankle boots. Rock this with a leather jacket or a fitted suit jacket. I really need this and it midi sleeves, for the evening time I would rock this again super oversized with cute heels and smokey eyes and nude lips!

The sparkle is the main focus, so muted neutral lips and a smokey eye would give it a rocker look but still easy to wear. For the day rock with jeans and cute shoes or even converse… it depends how comfortable you are rocking sparkle! I always love wearing something pretty it makes me feel better…. trust me retail therapy is the new therapy ladies! Don’t you love this?

Jacket Madness

I think I own about 50 jackets… I can’t stop buying them. I have two black leather jackets but one is studded and the other one is pretty plain. Leather can be worn throughout the season, rock it with jeans, during the night… whenever they always look good.  This leather jacket reminds me of a bomber jacket… which is totally on trend this season. I really really want this, its slightly pricey but it’s an investment piece. Remember when buying goods you want them to last over the next few seasons. Quality over quantity guys.

The Statement Shirt 

You need that shirt that is easy to wear but my goodness does it make a statement. I literally saw this in store and was thinking… I could rock this with my leather skirt… with skinnies! Try it with my hair up and red lips with jeans or during the evening with a structure pair of shorts and smokey eyes. I always have to image myself in the outfit before I buy it… where would I wear this? How would I rock this? I love this…. maybe one of my favourite pieces from their collection this season. It’s so pretty …….

Accessories Yourself Girl

This season croc embossed leather is the bomb-diggity! Everything is croc croc and more croc, this cute little side bag in nude can be worn during the evening and rocked in the summer as well! Make good investments ladies and you will look a million dollars!

I think I know what I will be buying next week… hopefully all of these goodies over the next few weeks and a new red lipstick. Whats on your WISHLIST ladies?

Feel Good Time

I am currently sitting in my room on a Sunday night relaxing and reflecting on the past week. I am attempting to sing along to Whitney Houston’s ‘I’m every woman’ (really really badly) but the music is so loud I have convinced myself that I sound like her double! Over the past week I have made a few changes that my future self will thank me for, I have been unhappy in my current job because of a few factors so decided to take the plunge and hand in my notice and kick my butt into getting a new job! At the end of the day we have to be happy and I say if it’s not making me happy, making me money or expanding my knowledge then let it go! Remember that life is not a rehearsal and sometimes we have to face our fears and just do it anyway and shake a few things up to get us kick started in our future arrangements.

Gym Updates– As you know I have been gyming it alot and need to invest in a new pair of trainers, make sure that you are comfortable and looking after your body. I bought my trainers a year ago and they were not specifically anything special but now that I am actually training I need something super comfy. Think I am going to invest in a new pair of nike trainers, I tried some on today and it felt like my foot was on a pillow……. I have had a lot of questions on what I eat, what workouts I do at the gym and this will all be shared over the next few weeks. Today my brother came back from his honeymoon and I missed him so much which is very surprising lol (oh my goodness did I just lol at my own comment… someone slap me!)

 

 

Today I wore my casual Sunday outfit, comfy jeans, comfy heels and oversized white tee and my new pyjama styled suit from Zara. My jeans are high waisted from American Apparel and they are the same style as the disco pants but not as tight fitted.

 

 

 

 

I have a new MAC obsession, its Lady Danger and looks fierce with any outfit! 

 

With the ladies today we were discussing everything from life to love and the usual boy conversation. I realised that life is what you make it, never ever ever compare yourself to anyone. God has a plan for you and inshallah everything will come to you when you are ready! I started this blog off to show you what I wear because I have a love for fashion but I feel so comfortable sharing my life and views on the world with you! Sometimes we need to remind ourselves what we want, we need to make decision in life that benefit us! Keep going and chin up beauties and kick sadness in the face, feel good everyday and do you!

The reason I always bang on about focusing on myself is because I was previously in a bad relationship and lost myself, I hope that you all are in a good place and if not know when it’s a good time to let go! Be free like a butterfly and happy!

The Mehndi Party …..

Where do I even begin, I have been so busy the last week I haven’t been able to have hardly any Skeena time! I recently joined a gym because I want to get super fit and adapt my current lifestyle into an even healthier lifestyle! The wedding has all of a sudden arrived and I am excited, nervous, happy and sad all at the same time! I am so excited for the happy couple to be saying their religious vows and being blessed in the eyes of God. I am nervous because I have to keep it together and not cry (and ruin my make up)! My daddy will be missed and its all just happened so quickly! I am so excited to show you all what I am wearing.

If you are not from an Asian background a Mehndi party or henna party is a pre wedding party for girls where they celebrate everything with food, music, henna and it’s a bit of a giant party! My sister in law invited all her friends and we had a great time, I did my own henna but for my wedding (inshallah one day ….. he he ) I would like to get it done professionally! So back to the point, for the ladies party we all danced and ate and everyone wore bright colours! I decided to wear yellow and blue and mummy wore green!

Mummy looks great in this colour and her shoes are from New Look, she didn’t have a pair of silver shoes but she needed to buy some…. actually neither do I! I think its’s time to invest! 

My blue shoes are from Zara, it’s the first time I have worn them and I got them last year! I don’t like the whole matchy matchy colour thing sometimes but with asian outfits I don’t mind! This is just a casual party outfit, I can’t wait to show you the real wedding outfit!

I ended up changing my outfit last minute as it got caught in the car and ripped! UHOH…. so had to do a last minute outfit change and ended up being late! Sorry Zara ha ha ! Tomorrow the following products will be my secret weapons to a flawless face! My benefit 15 hour primer will keep my face feeling fresh the whole day! The true match l’oreal conceler is my favourite and l’oreal eyeliner is super black! The pressed pigment looks like fairy dust!

AQ AQ AW13

I was recently invited to AQ AQ’s launch previously know as Aqua by Aqua  to see the rebranding and new seasons collection. This was hosted at their Carnaby Street store, it was a red carpet event and full of bright colours and digital prints.

 

 

Laura Whitmore Dj’d the whole night wearing one of the new seasons jumpsuits, currently available online.

 

 

Mollie King from The Saturdays look stunning in red! What a statement dress and also available online! 

 

This seasons we see reds, neons and bold strong colours mixed with prints and darings cuts. They have a sexual leotard which can we worn as swimwear or as a top, it’s fierce and has a high cut leg and low cut back. 

 

I want so much menswear it’s worrying, it’s full of digital prints and i love an oversized tee with my hair up for a day look. The men’s store is at the other end of Carnaby street. 

 

This season Scott Wilson has taken his statement pieces to a new extreme. Bold, gold and ‘in yo face’ the statement piece of the season.

I love me more…..

So….. where do I even start! Yes I love you but I love me more… many women I have met in the past have managed to always put someone else before them (normally a man that doesn’t appreciate them) and never really value themselves for who they are….. this has to stop! As selfish as this may sound… sometimes we need to be selfish and fully healed before we start a new relationship with someone, I have heard people say that they can’t live without this person and they would die if they broke up with their boyfriend! As romantic as this may sound at some point it also sounds slightly crazy, I have been there and said all that…. got the t-shirt and look at me now…. living…. jumping around …. and enjoying my life so much more!

In a relationship there should be a healthy balance and as women we should always have our ‘own things’ going on in regards to personal friends, hobbies and goals and whatever else you have! I am not going to sugar coat any situation but you meet as two individuals and make a life together and you should compliment each other not complete each other! This is my personal opinion and from looking at successful relationships in my family they have all taken a leaf from this book! Being a strong women and having your own goals in life is great but once you get in a relationship do NOT be that girl that forgets her friends…. doesn’t come out any longer and isn’t allowed to go on a girls holiday because the ‘bf’ doesn’t like it! In this scenario I believe trust is the issues…. the reason I can so casually talk about these things is because at some point I was that girl! I never ever ever ever thought I would get myself into that position… I still saw my friends but my ex was a major part of my life at that time… as the relationship was unhealthy and I found out he was a sociopath it all makes sense! The whole point of this ladies is never loose yourself for anyone! Always keep your eye on the ball and if you love someone they should support your dreams and help you get there.

I also hear a lot of women saying …. ‘oh I want to marry a rich man’….. hmmmm firstly why don’t you get rich yourself and make something of yourself instead of just managing to fall into money! Like attracts Like… so if you are a strong ambitious women who wants to work hard and get rich you will… if you want to just marry a rich man and do nothing then thats you! I would personally much prefer being a strong independent successful women and meeting a man who is pretty much the same! Remember that the materialistic things in life don’t make you happy… I would rather have a man that thought about something to help me achieve my dream instead of flashing some cash to impress me! Some women like that… however if you have a brain and are not impressed by money then you are two steps ahead!

I met up with the ladies yesterday after work for a chitchat, it was a beautiful summers day in London and we managed to go to Aqua Rooftop to catch a few rays….the main topics we discussed were boys… fashion… boys boys and boys! Previous relationships, things we have learnt… what we want in life… who we are dating…etc…. Just a basic catch up that managed to last until 930 where we then decided to eat our problem away… YAY

Previously to meeting them I managed to get marks all down my pretty dress so had a quick outfit change into the Pineapple Princess…. I got this cute number from HnM… super comfortable and super cheap ladies! (I bought this earlier on that day!)

My beautiful friends who I love…. Bey’s pretty sunglasses are from Marc Jacobs and I need to ask Elle where hers are from… designer but not sure! 

Bey’s stunning necklace is from ASOS and currently online! I love my fashionable friends… not only are they fashionable ladies but it’s so refreshing to meet women who are ambitious…. have their head screwed on the right way… respect themselves and enjoy life! Place yourself around positive people and be a leader not a follower!

So yes we discussed men… boys… men and boys! The reason I decided to differentiate between the two is because even though we have all dated and have ex boyfriends a lot of the ‘men’ are still actually boys! They may be older, successful but they still have a lot of maturing when it comes to treating women and being in  relationships! Treat people how you would like to be treated…… I have met many men that see women as objects of desire instead of actual people! Be wise ladies and choose your partner carefully, I hope he appreciates you for everything you are from your brain, ambition and what you stand for.

Wedding, Prom and Summer Dresses

Hello my lovelies…. I have been super busy with work and I haven’t been able to upload my wedding and prom inspirational lookbook. This was filmed before my brothers wedding and I had no idea what to wear so I bought a selection of dresses! I literally has no idea what to wear, what the weather would be like.. should I wear a fitted dress, short dress, long dress…. all these questions and so little time…. so I had a rummage on the highstreet and found all these beauties!

For occasion dresses I would recommend going to Reiss, Ted Baker and Coast but these dresses are more formal, structured and slightly more expensive… for an occassion dress that you can dress up or down I would go to Zara, Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Asos or Warehouse… Remember it’s not what you wear it’s how you wear it! Invest in good accessories, heels and make your dress look individual. The only problem with buying dresses from the highstreet for a special occasion is the possibility of someone having the same dress as you… but look fab and wear it better ladies! (Beyonce strut)

Outfit 1

My yellow floral dress is from topshop, its £95 and the hair band is £25! It’s currently in store and they have a shorter version in a peachy colour. the straps can be worn up or down but I preferred them tucked in.

 

Outfit 2

This super cute dress is from Oasis, its a limited edition 60’s dress and cost £75! In real life it’s bright and vibrant and works well with a tan… if not just fake it!

 

Outfit 3

This pretty floral dress is also from Oasis and cost £65, I got it in a size 6!I loved this dressed but it wasn’t practical for a wedding as it has cut out bits at the side! The pretty headband in the youtube is from Primark for £5!

 

 

Outfit 4

My favourite dress and the one that I wore during the ceremony! The gold and green paisley print made me feel like I was wearing a 60’s dress. I added an underskirt to make the dress stick out! The dress was from Miss Selfridge and cost £55. My shoes are last season from Zara.

 

Outfit 5

Another pretty dress from Miss Selfridge and it only cost £55. I liked this dress however it has too much cleavage on show for the wedding so I decided to wear the green dress instead. The material looked slightly cheap but the print of the dress was very pretty. 

 

Outfit 6

This vibrant yellow dress was from Oasis, it cost £50 and came with this black belt. I removed the belt and added a cute fur gillet from coast. Wear this with nude or match it with orange to stand out even more!

 

 

Outfit 7

I love the colour red and this beauty cost £65 from warehouse. It fitted well and I really like the 3/4 mid length dress it looks very elegant. Check out my previous videos on youtube to get this super cute hairstyle.

 

 

Outfit 8

I know you can’t wear white to someone else’s wedding but this would be cute for prom. This embellished beaded dress is from Warehouse and cost £95. The headband is from oasis and cost £12. I think this dress can be dressed up or down. Add a pair of classic round toe or peep toe shoes to give the dress some sophistication. The dress is slightly see through so wear a underskirt.

Tatty Devine… MBA!

I love jewellery, it creates an outfit and makes you stand out! For the past few years I have been interested in creating a jewellery brand and realised that you have to have a unique selling point (USP) to make your brand stand out. For my dissertation I frantically searched the UK for jewellery brands to find a gap in the market to see if their was an opportunity to create a new one…. Sadly I found out that the jewellery I was interested in reproducing was already being created by other bigger brands… if I wanted to stand out I needed to become a jewellery design with unique designs…. The whole point of this background information was to explain  that one of my favourite jewellery brands is Tatty Devine! They have been around for over ten years and recently got a MBA on Friday, both Harriet and Lucy went to Buckingham palace to receive their MBA. I popped into the store to order my new necklace but got sidetracked by the colourful merginues and giant jewellery! Have a looksie at the Brick Lane store, Tatty Devine is also available in Selfridges and online.

 

I managed to bag myself one of the limited edition Tatty Devine badges! Yay…

Terry De Havilland

I am always on the look for a new brand, something different with it’s own vibe! I can’t stand generic brands that filter the catwalk trends to their customers! I want something original and I found it…. FINALLY!

If you love shoes you are going to love Terry De Havilland, known as the ‘Rock and Roll Cobbler’ he is back with his exclusive store just off of Carnaby Street! Vibrant, full of colours, beautifully made with statement prints- and some of them even glow in the dark!

The SS13 collection stands for indulging, indulging in one’s love for pop art. With the charm of a Roy Lichtenstein painting and the visual stimulation of a Technicolor film, Terry De Havilland  is easy to wear and brightens up any outfit.

I need these shoes in my life… think its time to make an investment! I have a thing for cobalt blue shoes!

Not a heel lover, check out their festival boots which range from £180-£250 depending on the design! I think the sparkle takes off the hardcore edge of the shoes and makes them versatile! How will you wear them?

A Pink Affair

I attended a beautiful baby shower for my best friends sister over the weekend and the theme was pink… she is having a baby girl within the next few weeks and I couldn’t be more excited to welcome another baby into the family! I have never attended a baby shower before it was a new exicitng experience for everyone… I am not at the stage were I want a baby but I am so excited for my friend! 

The theme was pink so I had a rummage through my wardrobe and found my cute pink dress that I bought last year from Zara, I initially got this for my cousins wedding but decided to wear the dress as a skirt and revamp it with a new top. I cleverly tucked in my t-shirt to make it look like a crop top and carrie like skirt!

My top is from Primark and only cost me £10… I was initially trying to go for a Celine oversized t shirt with the cute sticky out pink skirt but thought the digital print would have a better effect! I got my Shoes from Zara last year, but I always feel that everything from Zara is an investment piece…. well for me anyway!

I am a sucker for a pink theme….. it was so beautiful to see everyone in different shades and the mother to be looked amazing! We had games.. a drag queen… a magician….lots of food and a crepe stand! What an amazing event to welcome the new baby into world…. only a few weeks to go!

LFW Street Style… Day 2

 

 

London Fashion Week is one of the best events of the year, firstly it lasts for a week… secondly it forecasts the trends for the next season and my favourite reason of all is that the creative minds of the fashion industry are congregated together in the middle of London. Bloggers, designers, models, fashionistas, stylists, photographers and the rest….  if you have any interest in fashion, hang around Somerset House for a few hours and your perception of what ‘fashion’ is should change.

They say a picture can say a thousand words, I could try and explain the buzz and atmosphere but you should try and experience this in person. Rules are thrown out the window, there are no boundaries (well don’t turn up in your birthday suit), clashing prints, coloured hair, neon clutches, capes, drag queens, glitter eyebrows….. It’s exciting to see what people are coming up with, the most influential people in fashion are standing around queuing for shows.

I salute all of the individuals who have their own unique style, don’t be a sheep and follow everyone else …..try something new…. you never know it could actually suit you! This ss13 we will be seeing lots of vibrant neons, double prints and lots of monochrome. An oriental twist of fabrics and cuts will influence this up and coming season so explore and invest in something new.
